Former United Auto Workers President Dennis Williams was charged in Detroit with conspiring with successor Gary Jones and other UAW officials to embezzle hundreds of thousands of dollars in UAW funds between 2010-2019, according to U.S. prosecutors. “The charges today are further steps forward in our relentless effort to ensure that the over 400,000 men and women of the UAW have honest and ethical leadership,” said U.S. Attorney Matthew Schneider in a statement.
