Mercedes-Benz Canada names new President, CEO

Mercedes-Benz Canada has appointed its new President and CEO; Dimitris Psillakis succeeds Brian D. Fulton and officially enters the new role on September 1.

Fulton has been with the company for 26 years and announced earlier in 2020 that he will be leaving Mercedes-Benz to pursue other opportunities.

“I want to sincerely thank Brian for his 26 years of committed service to the organization,” said Nicholas J. Speeks, CEO of Mercedes-Benz North America. Of the new President, he said “Dimitris has demonstrated an impressive ability to grow Mercedes-Benz in key markets by building deep relationships with dealer partners and key stakeholders.

In his new role, Psillakis will assume overall responsibility for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, Mercedes-AMG and Mercedes-Benz vans, while leading the company’s Canadian division of 1,200 employees. Mercedes-Benz Canada has 14 locations in the country, seven retail operations, and 52 authorized dealerships.

“Psillakis’ proven leadership acumen and strong track record for success in several key international markets will serve to bolster Mercedes-Benz Canada’s position amidst a period of great change in the industry,” said the OEM in a news release.

Psillakis, a native of Greece, joined Daimler AG in 1992 and rose through the ranks of its Greek subsidiary before moving to Mercedes-Benz do Brasil Ltda in 2009, to serve as managing director for passenger cars in South America and Vans Sales Brazil. In 2015, he joined Mercedes-Benz Korea as President and CEO and helped the South Korean market reach the fifth largest in the world for Mercedes-Benz Cars, according to the OEM.

He holds degrees from the University of Kent at Canterbury and The Imperial College Business School at the University of London, UK.
