Kia Canada has partnered with Food Banks Canada to deploy new vehicles and a $200,000 “kick-start” donation to support national hunger relief efforts in the country amid COVID-19.
“We’ve moved Canadians with safety and confidence for more than 20 years,” said Elias El-Achhab, Chief Operating Officer at Kia Canada. “And our #PowerToGive partnership with Food Banks Canada and its 3,000 food banks and community agencies across the country will help put our team, our resources, and our vehicles to important work — feeding Canadians in this time of need.”
The automaker is lending its press fleet to Food Banks in Toronto, Ont., and Vancouver, B.C., to support their work in providing food packs to Canadians in need. Some of the vehicles the OEM is lending out include its Sportage, Soul and Telluride.
The company is also working with its dealerships across the country to help connect them with their local food banks and/or agencies to offer assistance and support for its #PowerToGive project.
“We are grateful to Kia Canada for providing an uplifting moment, as we navigate these uncharted, anxious times and help alleviate pressures for our team who are working frontline in service of their communities,” said Neil Hetherington, Chief Executive Officer at Toronto’s Daily Bread Food Bank.
