Ontario dealers, Canadian hockey players deliver PPE essentials

The Trillium Automobile Dealers Foundation (TADF) has partnered with Conquer COVID-19, a grassroots volunteer-driven organization, to deliver essential Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) supplies to Canadians in need in Ontario.

TADF delivered 50,000 gloves on behalf of the Consolidated Dealers, with Todd Bourgon, Executive Director at the Trillium Automobile Dealers Association (TADA) and Canadian hockey legend Wendel Clark helping to deliver the gloves.

A former Toronto Maple Leafs captain, Clark also played for the Quebec Nordiques, New York Islanders, Tampa Bay Lightning, Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks during his career, but is considered a fan favourite in Toronto. He played professionally from 1985–2000.

Hayley Wickenheiser was also present during the drive. She is a former member of the Canadian National Women’s Hockey Team and is the current Assistant Director of Player Development for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Auto IQ Dealership Network, which is based in Barrie, Ont., also offered a helping hand by hosting a PPE drive at their 400 Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership. The dealership’s sales department remains closed (but open virtually), while service is open with reduced hours.

The supplies were donated to local shelters such as the Women & Children’s Shelter of Barrie and the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre Foundation.

MPP Andrea Khanjin (Barrie—Innisfil), along with Auto IQ Founder and Chairman Mike Stollery, General Manager Christy Fines, Wendel Clark and Innisfil paramedics were all in attendance.
