OpenRoad announced new charitable initiative

OpenRoad Auto Group has announced a new charitable program that will benefit several non-profit organizations in B.C. as part of the company’s 20th anniversary celebration.

The dealer group will be celebrating for the entire year, and has decided to kick off the festivities with a program that aims to help a range of B.C. charities selected by staff and customers, and which will contribute a total of $500,000 by the end of 2020.

“When planning for our 20th anniversary we thought what better way to mark the occasion than by giving back and contributing in a way that will have a lasting impact on our community,” said Christian Chia, CEO of OpenRoad Auto Group.

The first phase of the program will see OpenRoad Auto Group donate more than $100,000 to 18 local charities, all selected through an in-dealership voting system at the group’s 26 B.C. stores. The charities advocate for things like community, health, diversity, education, family and animal welfare.

The B.C. dealer group already contributes to organizations through its OpenRoad Cares program — the new initiative is simply an extension of that program. The difference is that it allows employees and customers to choose the local organizations the company plans to give back to within five regions of Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.

As of March 9, the dealer group will also take $20 from each car sold — up to 5,000 cars from OpenRoad’s 25 dealerships, to contribute to the charitable fund. Customers will then be able to cast their vote on their preferred charity of choice.
