B.C.’s OpenRoad acquires Mercedes-Benz Surrey

OpenRoad Auto Group has announced the acquisition of Mercedes-Benz Surrey, B.C., representing the automotive retail group’s first store of the luxury brand.

The dealership first opened in 1999 on Fraser Highway and eventually relocated to Surrey in 2002. It was previously owned by Silverstar MB Inc.

“Mercedes-Benz has always been an aspirational brand for us, so to be able to partner with Mercedes-Benz Canada to represent one of the most premium automotive companies in the world is a very exciting opportunity for us,” said Christian Chia, President and CEO of OpenRoad Auto Group.

On behalf of Mercedes-Benz Canada, the company’s President and CEO Brian D. Fulton extended a warm welcome to Chia as part of their family of retailers. He also thanked George Taubenfligel for his 18 years of service as Dealer Principal of SilverStar MB. “With the support of a strong team already in place, I am confident that Christian and Mercedes-Benz Surrey will continue to experience sustained success and growth,” said Fulton.

The dealership’s incoming General Manager, Jeremy Schaab, will now be in charge of leading the sales and service team from Silverstar MB. Some of the latest features to be introduced, as a result of the change, include enhanced valet service throughout Surrey and White Rock, and the addition of OpenRoad’s signature Club OpenRoad loyalty plan.
