Hyundai charity directs $200,000 to Atlantic Canada cancer care

Hyundai Hope on Wheels has provided $200,000 in funding for pediatric cancer care in Atlantic Canada as its cross-country campaign continues.

According to Hyundai Auto Canada, the charity awarded $100,000 each to the IWK Foundation in Halifax and the Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation in St. John’s. The donations were presented during Hyundai Hope on Wheels Handprint Ceremonies held in both cities.

The IWK grant will support the creation of a dedicated chemotherapy preparation area and a new clinical trials program aimed at expanding access to treatments and research opportunities for children and families affected by cancer in Nova Scotia.

In Newfoundland and Labrador, the Janeway grant will support pediatric cancer care and services for children and families receiving treatment through the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre.

The Atlantic Canada funding is part of Hyundai Hope on Wheels’ broader 2026 commitment of more than $4.1 million toward pediatric cancer care, research and family support programs across Canada.

The initiative is supported by Hyundai Auto Canada and its network of more than 225 dealers nationwide. A portion of every new Hyundai vehicle sold in Canada goes toward Hyundai Hope on Wheels.

Now in its second year in Canada, the charity is also working with Canada’s C17 Council to provide funding for pediatric oncology clinical trials and research.

Hyundai said the national campaign has donated more than $1.5 million so far during its current 15-city tour.

The tour is next scheduled to move into Quebec, with Handprint Ceremonies supporting the University of Sherbrooke Cancer Research Institute on Oct. 6 and Montreal Children’s Hospital on Oct. 8.
