Automotive Business School of Canada recognizes SCI MarketView

SCI MarketView has been honoured with Georgian College’s Board of Governors’ Community Partner Award.

The lead management technology solutions and dealer training programs provider was recognized for its participation in ABSC’s co-op program and for providing a host of financial and strategic supports that further the college’s mandate to prepare the next generation of automotive industry leaders, said Joe Lauzon, Marketing Officer at ABSC.

“SCI MarketView has been an ongoing supporter of whatever it is that we might need and has helped us take it to the next level,” said Lauzon. “They’ve been one of our strongest partners in terms of industry representation.”

Lauzon highlighted the approximately $20,000 gift in-kind made by SCI MarketView for lead generation software during the ABSC auto show, the firm’s involvement in the school’s rebranding campaign, the launch of its executive dealership management program, as well as the firm being “a leading force” in the annual alumni event Georgian College hosts for the ABSC in conjunction with the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto.

“The strength of the ABSC program will support the strength of the automotive industry,” said Alan Bird, President and Chief Executive Leader of SCI MarketView.

This is the first time SCI MarketView has received the award.

“You can hire hire a lot of talented young people, and you can educate them and train them in your business, but you can’t hire passion,” noted Bird, who is also a member of the board at the ABSC and Chair of its Marketing Advisory Committee.

He said that he has hired 50 per cent of the ABSC co-op students who have worked at SCI MarketView, and that the company’s involvement in the program goes back seven years.

“Graduates from the ABSC really have a true passion for the industry and it’s that passion that makes them stand out — that’s one of the reasons that when we have resources that need to be filled at our organization, we immediately look to the college first,” said Bird.

Another way the organization highlights the positive impact of ABSC graduates on the automotive industry is by holding the SCI VIP night & ABSC Alumni Cocktail Reception, explained Bird.

“It’s a way to really celebrate the whole alumni network; they’re throughout the industry and many work for the top organizations and it’s a chance to get them all together, along with a lot of industry leaders.”

Bird pointed out that many alumni not only contribute to the automotive industry, but give back to the college.

“I think it’s great that industry partners recognize the alumni that have given back to the college,” he said.

The award was presented at Georgian College during the 2017 Board of Governors Awards of Distinction in May.
