In a recent presentation on the future of car buying at the 2015 Automotive News World Congress in Detroit, Scott Painter, CEO and founder of TrueCar, said the way to better integrate automakers, dealers and consumers is by harnessing the power of mobile.
Painter said the car buying and selling platform is updating its mobile app to improve the car buying experience, particularly useful for millennials who grew up with data transparency and technology.
“What if automakers could connect to millennials at the moment of truth — as they actually walk the lot, interact with them in the only conversation they are willing to have, through their mobile device?” said Painter, in a press release issued by the company.
The company says about four per cent of all new vehicle transactions in the U.S. originate on its platform, with TrueCar Certified Dealers having sold over 600,000 vehicles in 2014.
“Not only will we reach the purely mobile generation, we will also deliver automakers a new platform on which to position their brands, their vehicles and their conversations with these buyers,” said Painter.
