Birchwood Automotive offers season ticket incentives thanks to Chipman family
A big player in the recent Atlanta Thrashers franchise relocation is also a big player in a Manitoba auto group.
Mark Chipman, the chairman of the company that purchased the Atlanta Thrashers, True North Entertainment Ltd., has a long-standing family history as a part of Manitoba’s automotive industry.
Chipman is currently the President of Megill-Stephenson Company, a holding company that owns Birchwood Automotive Group, Manitoba’s largest automotive group.
It’s all in the family
Mark’s father, Robert M. Chipman, opened Birchwood Pontiac Buick ltd. in 1964. This laid the foundation for the Birchwood Automotive Group, which now operates 15 franchised operations.
Robert also operates the Megill-Stephenson Company, the parent company to Birchwood Automotive Group.
R. M. Chipman’s other son, Steve, is currently the President of the Birchwood Automotive Group. Steve also received CADA’s Laureate award for Business Innovation in 2010.
The group currently employ more than 500 people and operates 15 franchises.
New Incentives
Thanks to the Birchwood Automotive Group and the Chipman family ties to the new Manitoba NHL team, the group is offering a very unique incentive.
If a customer purchases season tickets to the new team, who play at the MTS Centre (also owned by True North Entertainment), they will receive $500 off of a new or used car.
The promotional incentive, known as ‘Drive the NHL dream back to Winnipeg’, is applicable until June 21st 2011.
The Winnipeg Free Press reported that as of Thursday afternoon, True North Sports and Entertainment announced their ‘Drive to 13,000’ season-ticket campaign had reached 4,170.
