Hyundai Canada recently held a Handprint Ceremony at Southtown Hyundai in Alberta and presented a $100,000 donation to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation.
The OEM did this through its charitable foundation called Hyundai Hope on Wheels to celebrate the hospital’s work in paediatric oncology. The Stollery Paediatric Oncology Program is also one of the largest in Western Canada, according to the automaker. It provides comprehensive care for children with cancer and blood disorders, and is the primary provider of children’s cancer care in Northern Alberta.
Sue McCoy, Vice-President of Philanthropy at the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, said in a statement the Handprint Ceremony/presentation “isn’t just about a donation — it’s about hope. It’s about giving children facing cancer and their families more moments of comfort, more access to breakthrough treatments and more reasons to believe in a healthier tomorrow.”
The donation is part of a broader $4 million commitment from Hyundai Hope on Wheels in its 2025 support of paediatric oncology centres across Canada. Kirk Merrett, Hyundai Canada’s Director of Human Resources and Administration, said the OEM’s non-profit is driving change and giving children a better chance at a healthy future. “We are honoured to support the incredible work being done at Stollery Children’s Hospital through Hyundai Hope on wheels.”
Hyundai Hope on Wheels also presented the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation with a $100,000 donation. This donation is also to support children and youth receiving cancer care, this time at the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary — which delivers specialized care to young patients in southern Alberta, including Red Deer, Medicine Hat, and Lethbridge.
“Every contribution makes a difference in children’s lives and futures, and we are grateful to continue bringing handprint ceremonies and donations to communities across Canada,” said Merrett in a statement.
