Electric vehicle owner and professional videographer Patrick Nadeau took part in a road trip that sent him from Markham, Ontario, to the Arctic Ocean in Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, as part of The Hyundai Canada EV Road Trip.

In a press release, Hyundai Auto Canada said Nadeau used a stock, 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 for the trip without experiencing any mechanical or charging issues along his journey through five provinces and two territories across Canada. The vehicle covered more than 15,000 kilometres that included diverse landscapes and remote northern roads.

“This project is more than just a road trip. It’s a statement of purpose. We believe in an electrified future that is accessible, reliable, and inspiring for all Canadians — from urban centres to the furthest reaches of the North,” said Christine Smith, Director of Marketing at Hyundai Canada, in a statement.

Nadeau left on June 24 at 11 a.m. from the OEM’s headquarters at 75 Frontenac Dr. The OEM said Nadeau is an electric vehicle enthusiast who drove his own IONIQ 5 from Quebec to Mexico in 2022. For the current journey, he’s expected back this week.

“Owning an EV is not the same as a gasoline vehicle, it requires more planning, which EV owners quickly accept and adapt to,” said Nadeau in a statement. The reward for some extra planning is worth it — the joy of instant torque, low cost of ownership, savings on charging versus gas, and a reduced carbon footprint all contribute to my reasons for going electric and for undertaking this epic adventure.”
