November light vehicle sales are in and they are hot!

The numbers are in for November; light vehicle sales appear to be hot for the month as an estimate by DesRosiers Automotive Consultants shows the market came in at an impressive 156,000 units — up 8.8% from the same month in 2023.

In its update DAC said this was the best November since 2017, which was a record-breaking year. “After languishing over the summer months, the market certainly has picked up some momentum this fall — as indeed it did in 2023.”

However, they also noted an additional selling day last month, compared to November 2023, although the pace of sales is still impressive.

“The SAAR for the month came in at 2.04 million — behind only the rambunctious pace seen in January and February,” said Andrew King, Managing Partner of DAC, in a statement. “With one month left to go in 2024, the market has already exceeded 2023’s year-end total of 1.72 million.”

The year-end market total will still be less than pre-pandemic levels, but DAC said the strong autumn sales pace helped significantly improve sales above 2020-23 totals. “It is amazing what happens when you actually have vehicles available to sell,” said DAC.
