For many graduates of the Automotive Business School of Canada programs, getting involved in the Georgian College Auto Show is one of the highlights of their education.
A new batch of students will be creating those memories today and over the weekend at the 36th annual Georgian College Auto Show held on the Barrie campus in Ontario.
The three-day event opened this morning with speeches from industry partners, while the doors opened to the public at noon. This year, 18 different OEMs are exhibiting and their booths are run by student volunteers who worked hard to learn their products and become non-selling brand ambassadors during the show.
This year the auto show’s student directors are: Josh Ferguson, Director of Sponsorship and Performance; Luke Reymer, Director of Media and Marketing Relations; Zac Weaver, Director of Customer Experience; Patrick Milligan, Director of Student Experience; and Jordan Russell, Director of Site Management and Logistics.
After the official kickoff, there was another special ceremony to unveil a 1972 Volkswagen (VW) Westfalia that students retrofitted into an electric vehicle. Called the “VW project,” it launched in December, and involved students and faculty from engineering and technologies, interior design, and other programs.
This year’s show features electric vehicle test drives, an exotic car experience, an automotive fire extraction demo, a show and shine, and more.
