Peer-to-peer car sharing marketplace Turo has teamed up with the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Calgary International Airport (YYC) to provide vehicle exchange locations for its clients.
As a next-step in broadening its reach, the company wants to ensure consumers that use Turo’s services can access one of its vehicles upon arrival at the airport. In Vancouver, this means Turo users can park their vehicles in the parkade. In Calgary, it means they can do so in the overheight public parking lot, the economy parking lot, or parkades P1 and P2.
“Travellers arriving in Vancouver and Calgary will have a delightful experience, where they can skip the rental car counter altogether, jump into their booked vehicle and get on the road as soon as possible,” said Cedric Mathieu, Senior Vice President and Head of Turo Canada, in a statement.
Turo said the partnership also provides an opportunity for local hosts, “who can turn their vehicles into additional income while providing a five-star experience for all their guests flying in.” The company also noted that its team-up with the two airports is a first of a kind, and that it reveals a growing demand for car sharing while travelling both domestically and internationally.
Turo aims to offer consumers both flexibility and convenience, helped by the ability to request vehicle delivery to your front door, along with add-ons like bike racks or child car seats, and the the option of selecting a preferred vehicle make and model.
