Timothy Awojobi, an Air Force veteran living in Newark, New Jersey, received a vehicle on March 18 as part of the National Auto Body Council’s Recycled Rides program.
As part of the program, businesses of the collision repair industry come together to repair and donate vehicles for people in need of transportation. More than 3,000 vehicles have been donated so far.
“He recently returned to civilian life and is working part time at the City of Newark Public School System where he hopes to give back to the youth in his hometown,” said the NABC in its news release. “He has a very long commute that would be eased considerably with the gift of reliable transportation.”
The vehicle was presented at the AASP/NJ’s NORTHEAST 2021 Automotive Services Show at Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus, New Jersey, with GEICO as the vehicle donor. The event is just one example of many on how members of the automotive industry continue to give back to their communities.
