New study shows EVs cost more to service initially

Data by We Predict, a data analysis company has found that EVs are more expensive to service than ICE vehicles. Although EVs require less maintenance because they have fewer moving parts, the study showed that when it comes to service costs, EVs were 2.3 times more expensive to service than gasoline-powered counterparts after the first three months of ownership. The gap in service costs narrows as time goes by, dropping by 77%. The study found that EVs were 1.6 times more expensive to service after the first year of ownership. The study noted that most of the service conducted during the time periods studied was covered under manufacturer’s warranties and therefore not a direct cost to the consumer.
