A New York State senator is proposing a safety rating system that would see trucks and SUVs tested on their potential lethality in a collision with a pedestrian. “The New York State Senate has introduced a bill, SB 4307, that would require a pedestrian-safety rating for every vehicle, scoring them on a one to five scale similar to the ratings NHTSA already applies to vehicles.” It would rate vehicles based on any damage done in collisions with cyclists and pedestrians.
