Hyundai Elantra wins North American Car of the Year

The Hyundai Elantra has won the prestigious 2021 North American Car of the Year award after being named the winner by the North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year jury.

The sedan also won the award in 2012.

“I am honored to accept this award on behalf of the entire company, our Alabama and Ulsan plant employees who build Elantra and our dealers,” said José Muñoz, Global Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Motor Company, and President and CEO of Hyundai Motor North America and Hyundai Motor America.

The winner for the 2021 award was announced during a virtual event on January 11, following a selection process by American and Canadian automotive journalists who tested and evaluated more than 40 new vehicles. The Hyundai Elantra, Nissan Sentra, and Genesis G80 were the three car finalists, with the Elantra taking home the win.

“Elantra is a symbol of our blend of dynamic design, advanced technology and great fuel economy,” said Muñoz, adding that “Elantra customers are going to experience all of the hard work and dedication that went into making this class-leading car.”
