EV ownership-cost advantage strong among SUVs, pickups

The ownership-cost advantage for electric vehicles is particularly strong for SUVs and pickup trucks. According to Green Car Reports, when comparing these types of vehicles to their gas-engine counterparts, “an electric car can cost 10% to 40% more than a similar gasoline model.” The information is based on a new study from Consumer Reports, which indicates that most owners will save between $6,000 to $10,000 in running costs over the life of the car (when measured as approximately 321,869 km).
