In recognition of Earth Day, Kelley Blue Book released its list of 10 Best New and Used Eco-Friendly Vehicles — with Toyota, Honda and Tesla taking the top spots in their respective categories.
“Regardless of your lifestyle, there are a variety of vehicles to choose from in SUVs, hatchbacks, and sedans, and even at a more budget-conscious price if you’re shopping used,” said Michael Harley, executive editor for Kelley Blue Book. “One of the most underrated deals is to buy a used hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or all-electric vehicle – many of these are sold as ‘manufacturer certified’ with extended warranties.”
In the category of 10 Best Used Hybrids and Electric Cars Under $20,000, the 2018 Toyota Prius ranked number one, followed by the 2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid in second place and the 2018 Hyundai Ioniq Blue in third.
In the 10 Best Plug-In Hybrid Cars Under $40,000 section, the 2020 Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid took the top spot, followed by the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid in second and the 2020 Hyundai Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid in third.
The third category, 10 Longest-Range Electric Cars of 2020, found Tesla taking the top four spots thanks to its 2020 Tesla Model S Long Range, Model 3 Long Range, Model X Long Range, and Model Y. The 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV ranked fifth and the 2020 Hyundai Kona Electric came in sixth place.
“With each new model year, the number of available hybrid and electric vehicles continues to grow,” said Harley.
Kelley Blue Book experts helped narrow down car shoppers’ considerations lists with their top selections for vehicles that fall under each category.
