Ontario-based WhereSafe, a family safety and security solutions provider, recently launched a new GPS service for dealers to sell as an F&I product, and which features lot theft security.
“We’ve taken a proven Fleet tracking system and stripped out the complex reporting capabilities and matched it with a consumer friendly app interface that anyone can use,” said Vince Poloniato, President at WhereSafe. “This hardware can be installed on any vehicle and is portable, so it can be moved around the lot and then sold to an end customer.”
Poloniato said the service is offered at a price that consumers can justify and that dealers can benefit from. The GPS tracking hardware, which he said acts as a theft protection system, is easy to install and includes a smartphone app that can be downloaded on Apple or Android. The hardware options include portable (magnetic), plug-and-play (OBD2 port), or hardwired (3-wire install).
“Our goal is to provide families with the ability to ‘Protect Your Passions’ using GPS technology. We know that today, consumers are more comfortable with GPS, they understand it better and see the potential to help safeguard what is important to them,” said Poloniato.
The app will notify dealers (or the user of the product) if something happens. Some of those notifications may be the result of a speed limit that has been exceeded, or a car leaving home or the dealership at night.
“We want users to put their phones down and not waste any more precious time watching a screen,” said Poloniato. “Our tool provides the simplicity of use and the freedom to allow the system to work in the background only notifying you when a predetermined event actually happens.”
Dealers can buy the service in one-year bundles.
