Ford Canada launches “Build to Lend a Hand”

Ford of Canada launched a program known as “Built to Lend a Hand” to help its customers during the COVID-19 pandemic, while also working with dealerships to ensure the health and safety of both customers and employees.

As part of the program, new purchases of most 2019 and 2020 models (Ford and Lincoln) financed through Ford Credit will receive up to six months of payment relief, three months of deferred payments, and three months covered by Ford of Canada.

“Ford of Canada is built for challenging times like we’re experiencing right now,” said Dean Stoneley, president and CEO, Ford Motor Company of Canada. “We have dedicated teams closely monitoring the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and every day we’re exploring creative solutions to support our workforce, customers, dealers, suppliers and communities.”

The OEM is also encouraging customers who financed their vehicle purchase through Ford Credit to contact them for a possible payment extension of up to 90 days.

Participating dealerships will offer pickup-and-delivery for vehicle service needs and remote sales deliveries for certain customers — such as those who are unable to leave their home or work during regular business hours, or who are in self-isolation.

The company said it’s also encouraging dealers to protect their customers and employees through social distancing and a recommended vehicle disinfection process.

“Our dealers are committed to serving their communities, and that includes following the direction of authorities during this pandemic,” said Stoneley. “Most of our dealerships are still operating, and by carefully following the guidelines outlined by public health authorities, they are able to ensure that vehicles for police and other first responders, healthcare providers and other essential services are able to stay on the road and support Canadians.”
