The atmosphere at the Manheim Montreal auction in Saint-Eustache was filled with curiosity on November 12, as dealers gathered for the launch of Cox Automotive Canada’s MUVIT digital auction platform in Quebec.
“We think this is very important and significant for the Quebec market,” said Jerome Dwight, Vice President, Inventory & Financial Solutions, Cox Automotive Canada, in an interview with Canadian auto dealer. “Essentially, it brings more convenience to the dealer and more confidence in their buying and selling.”
The platform officially launched at the Manheim Toronto auction a week earlier, but for dealers in Quebec the bilingual presentation was new and offered important details about the product.
In a nutshell, the online platform connects dealers from across the country and allows vehicles to be posted for sale within minutes. It was built in Canada and is supported by PAVE, an artificial-intelligence vehicle inspection technology.
Dwight said the company built the platform over the last year in consultation with more than 100 dealers nationally.
“We listened to a lot of what they have been saying about some of the challenges with the existing digital auctions, and we tried to solve a lot of that with what we’re bringing out, which is very unique and different in the market,” said Dwight. “We’ve gotten feedback along the way, so we’ve continued to develop and refine it with the dealers.”
He said they had focus groups, in addition to looking at the product while in development.
The event also offered dealers the opportunity to attend an informative presentation, where a member of the team explained to them how to use the app, take photos of the vehicle, and more.
