Bright lights in Sin City

Second largest crowd in show history for Digital Signage Expo 2019. Canadian auto dealer was on hand to find out what new developments will impact dealerships.

Billed as the world’s largest trade show and conference for digital displays, interactive technology and digital communications, the 2019 Digital Signage Expo was almost a record breaker.

Organizers say more than 4,200 people, from 63 countries made the trek to Las Vegas to attend the event that showcases the full range of digital technology in use in various industries, but most notably for dealers, the retail industry.

More dealerships in Canada are looking to digitize their showroom floors, and provide more video and interactive content throughout the store, including areas like service, and parts and accessories.

While many of these digital experiences are quite common at OEM pop ups or auto shows, there are still few truly effective examples of amazing digital experiences within dealerships. But they are coming.

The industry is also moving to incorporate new technologies that can measure in-store analytics and audience behaviours, which provide added clues to dealers about what is happening in various parts of their stores, and which content visitors are engaging with.

The 2019 DSE event showcased many of these new technologies, and conference sessions educated attendees about emerging trends and opportunities.

Organizers say end-users from companies such as Canada Post, NASCAR, Yale University, Banner Bank, Crate & Barrel, PepsiCo, and many more were on hand this year to learn about changes to the digital experiences that new technology now enables.

“DSE is the only show that we go to that’s completely focused on digital signage. All the other shows are mixed up with a bunch of everything, so what we like about DSE is the people that are coming here are focused on learning about digital signage,” said Jeff Hastings, CEO of BrightSign, a scalable cloud-based digital signage network service.

Wade Neumeister, Creative Director for STRATACACHE had praise for this year’s event. “You better get to DSE. You better get in there now, because it’s a great place to see where the future is going.”

Next year’s DSE event is slated for March 31-April 3, 2020 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. For info visit: www.dse2020.com.
