The weather was great, and the cars were hot at this year’s 2018 Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto
The 2018 Canadian International AutoShow set a new attendance record for the third year in a row, further highlighting the importance that these events play in the consumer buying process.
The event, which took place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, was open to the public between February 16-25. The show closed with a record 358,842 attendees, compared to the previous high of 339,590 people in 2017.
“The automobile marketplace, which is one of the main drivers of the Ontario economy, is still strong,” said Jason Campbell, general manager of the AutoShow. “People who are in the market for a new car have no better place than the AutoShow to compare brands and models. I suggest our attendance numbers bear this out.”
A new record was also set for one-day attendance on February 18th after a total of 54,487 people passed through the turnstiles to see the show that day.
CIAS offered more than 40 new car unveilings and several additional attractions, including the 50 Years of Hot Wheels and the 70 Years of Porsche exhibit.
Other highlights include: North American debuts of the Lexus LS+ and Toyota i-TRIL concepts, the Canadian premiere of the Koenigsegg Agera RS hypercar and the reveal of a model that is exclusive to Canada, the 2019 RAM 1500 Sport.
This year’s event also featured a new public education series, the Automotive Intelligence Series, that brought together industry experts from around the world to discuss key issues such as vehicle electrification and autonomous technology.
