Industry icon Kathy Ward honoured at celebration of life

Hundreds of people from across the automotive industry gathered yesterday to pay tribute, and celebrate the life of Kathy Ward, the former President & CEO of Canadian Black Book who died just before Christmas at the age of 60.

Todd Bourgon, Executive Director of the Trillium Automobile Dealers Association made some opening remarks, and introduced Kathy’s friends and colleagues to say a few words and share stories of the impact she had on them and on the industry.

“This is a celebration of life. This is a celebration of a person who left an incredible footprint on this earth,” said Bourgon. “I know that if she was here today she’d have glass of white wine with a lot of ice in it and she’d tell you to celebrate.”

Those making tributes included: David Maclean, Canadian International AutoShow, Gordon McComb, Canadian Auction Express, Marty Meadows, Mobials, Greg Murchison, GM Financial, Tom Cross, Hearts Business Media, John Malcomson, Tim Horton’s Children’s Foundation, and Karey Davidson, RSR Global.

They shared stories about Kathy’s passion for life, her character and her drive and industry achievements.

Members of Ward’s family were also in attendance.

Ward’s car, and golf clubs were also on display at the tasteful and elegant event.

On behalf of Canadian auto dealer we want to extend our condolences to Kathy’s family, friends and colleagues. She will be missed.
