September sees double-digit gain for used vehicles

The number of Top Funded Used Vehicles in Canada saw a double-digit increase in September, according to data from Cox Automotive Canada’s Dealertrack online credit application network.

The volume of these vehicles saw a 10.7 per cent year-over-year increase compared to the same period last year.

The growth is seen as a “significant improvement” from the 6.7 per cent year-over-year volume gain in August  — as is September’s 3.3 per cent increase in average cash price for the Top 10 vehicles.

Trucks, SUVs and crossovers continued to dominate the list last month, according to Dealertrack — enough to bump the Hyundai Elantra compact car down two spots to sixth position.

The Elantra is one of four passenger cars to remain on the list as of September. The 2014 Toyota Corolla is another one, and is considered to be the most popular model year for the car.

In ninth place, this sedan is said to be a “solid choice with Canadian used vehicle buyers,” according to Dealertrack Canada.
