The federal government has announced that it is investing $120 million to establish infrastructure for electric vehicle charging and refuelling stations for alternative fuels such as natural gas, and to support technology demonstration projects.
The Honourable Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, made the announcement on April 4.
Minister LeBlanc also announced $335,000 in funding to build 10 new fast-charging stations across New Brunswick, led by NB Power Énergie NB.
“These projects will give electric vehicle drivers the infrastructure needed to travel New Brunswick roads with greater ease and will provide the tools Canadians need to make cleaner choices in the transportation sector,” said Minister LeBlanc.
Budget 2017 proposes to invest $21.9 billion in “green infrastructure” over the next 11 years.
