Nearly 90% used car shoppers consider CPO

Certified-Pre-Owned-600Used car buyers are increasingly seeing the benefits of certified vehicles.

Nearly nine in 10 used cars shoppers in the U.S. said they would be willing to pay more for a certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicle, found car shopping website, Edmunds.com.

These potential CPO shoppers would also be willing to pay more for the benefits of a CPO vehicle, with 37.8 per cent willing to spend up to an additional $1,000 and 36.9 per cent willing to spend $500 and more, said Edmunds.com.

“More and more shoppers are opening their eyes to the benefits of certified pre-owned vehicles,” said Jessica Caldwell, Director of Industry Analysis for Edmunds.com, in a written release.

“With more near-new cars coming off lease and making up a larger chunk of used car supply, shoppers can expect even more CPO vehicles on dealer lots in the coming months and years,” she added.

Certified pre-owned vehicles in the U.S. accounted for nearly 22 per cent of used car purchases at franchised dealerships from July through September. That was the largest CPO share of any third quarter, said Edmunds.com in its Q3 2015 Used Vehicle Market Report.
