The Richmond Auto Mall raised $31,795 for the Richmond Christmas fund, which provides gift certificates and toys to nearly 2,000 needy family members.
This is the highest amount raised in the event’s 12-year history, said Gail Terry, general manager for the Auto Mall, at the Richmond Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Christmas Luncheon held on Dec. 10.
The money was raised through the Auto Mall’s annual Windows of Hope fundraiser, in which the dealerships invited 250 “volunteer elves” to transform 23 windows into “holiday masterpieces,” said the Richmond Auto Mall.
“The overwhelming support of the event from the community is heart warming,” said Terry, who presented the cheque at the Christmas Luncheon. “It’s the real spirit of Christmas.”
“We set the goal last year at $30,000 (to celebrate the Auto Mall’s 30th year),” said Terry, “and promised to do it again or surpass it — and we did.”
The Windows of Hope are on display at Richmond Auto Mall until Jan. 3, 2016.
