Desjardins invited its dealer customers and Canadian auto dealer to enjoy the Honda Indy Toronto 2015 in style.

“We thought it was a good opportunity to thank a lot of the dealer customers and really get a lot of people together at one time,” said Tom Reid, Manager of Automobile and Durable Goods Sales and Business Development with Desjardins.

Throughout the races held June 12-14, dealers dropped in to watch the races from Desjardins’ coveted seating area in Pit Lane. There, they were able to talk with fellow dealers and meet Desjardins team members in an informal setting, while enjoying an assortment of food, drink — and taking shelter from the rain.

“It gives you a nice chance to talk to people outside of the office. Sometimes you go to a dealer and you only have a few minutes to talk because you have customers coming in,” said Reid, and added Desjardins issued 150 tickets over the three days of races.

This is the second year Desjardins has held the special gathering at the Honda Indy. Reid said the insurance service company is celebrating being in Ontario for three and a half years, and has grown rapidly in that time.

Desjardins offers customers a Ready-to-Drive loan product that provides customers with life insurance coverage at no cost to either the dealer or end customer. This helps dealers expedite the closing process and enables them to focus on other F&I products to boost customer satisfaction, retention and revenue.

The weather might have been disappointing for most of the weekend but the energy was high amongst dealers.

John Gionnas, VP of Operations at Infiniti of Willowdale in Thornhill, Ont. brought his son Matthew to watch the races.

“I’ve been in cars my whole life. I hope my son will be into them as well,” said Gionnas.

For Zain Fancy, Senior Business Manager at Menzies Chrysler in Whitby, Ont., the Honda Indy was a chance to get out of the office and socialize. “Why wouldn’t you take the opportunity to meet other people?” he said.

It was the second Honda Indy for Patricia Masuda, Financial Services Manager at Porsche Centre Oakville. “I love watching especially when we are this close,” said Masuda. Her favourite event? The Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada.
