Nissan-football-300For a second year, Nissan Canada and its dealer network will be surprising students in Canadian schools in need of resources and support to play football.

“This year, we’re going to reach more Canadian schools and our staff and dealers, as well as the CFL and many of its teams, are ready and excited to build on the impact we saw last year. Together, we’re hoping to once again make a real difference in communities coast-to-coast,” said Christian Meunier, President of Nissan Canada, in a written release.

Nissan2-300Through the Nissan Kickoff Project, Nissan Canada expects to reach nearly 1,200 students from 26 schools in 19 cities from September to October.

Besides receiving funding and resources, students will also receive coaching assistance and motivational support from the CFL, B.C. Lions, Edmonton Eskimos, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Toronto Argonauts, said Nissan.

“The equipment and funds are fantastic, but I think the greatest value was seeing how special and important Nissan Canada made our kids feel – that’s a feeling they will keep with them forever,” said Nick Dagg, Head Coach of Oscar Romero high school in Edmonton.

Dealers can follow the project at #NissanKickoffProject on social media platforms. A documentary is also in the works that will follow the trials, tribulations and achievements of one of this year’s schools, the details of which will be announced at a later date.
