Calgary dealers accepting trade-ins should be aware of new data released by CarProof: about 31 per cent of used vehicles in Calgary have been in an accident.
The number of used vehicles that have been in accidents or have a damage history in the rest of the province in Alberta is only slightly lower at 29 per cent, said CarProof, which provides used vehicle history reports.
“We know that when shoppers are looking for a used car, they want to see all the information on that car before they commit to buying,” said Ed Woiteshek, President and CEO at CarProof.
“That’s why CarProof collects data from sources across Canada and the U.S., and compiles it into one easy-to-read report. We want shoppers to feel confident that they know exactly what’s happened to the vehicle in the past so they can make a purchase decision with full peace of mind,” he said.
Woitshek adds that reputable licensed dealerships can help shoppers avoid non-disclosure of any damage history or previous accidents prior to purchase.
