Consumers crave creativity in leasing: online survey

leasing-options-300Swapalease.com released its latest report on the future of automotive trends, which revealed U.S. consumers are looking for more creative approaches to leasing.

The study issued by the automotive lease marketplace found 66 per cent of U.S. drivers and car shoppers would prefer to see all their financing and rate options online ahead of time, but 45 per cent of men and 27 per cent of women would be interested in lenders bidding for their finance business ahead of time.

Consumers would also prefer to select a lease package from a menu that includes options such as mileage and upfront money. About 51 per cent of men favoured backing out of a lease with 90 days notice, while 54 per cent of women would like to lease month-to-month with no extended terms.

“We’d like to see the industry break out of the mold more when it comes to lease packages and more flexible terms, and this survey shows car shoppers would be in favour of some creative thinking on those fronts,” said Scott Hall, Executive vice-president, Swapalease.com, in a press release.

The study also looked into car shopping in the future, and found the majority of consumers would like to identify their preferred vehicles and then see dealers submit their best bids.

Only a minority surveyed was interested in purchasing a vehicle without a physical dealer.

Swapalease.com says it surveyed more than 2,500 drivers and car shoppers across the U.S. between Feb. 20-March 15, 2015.
