Third annual Eco-Run underway

5-Eco-Run-300-Yesterday, the third annual Automobile Journalists Association of Canada Eco-Run got underway. The three-day event is designed to showcase the latest technology in reducing vehicle emissions and boosting fuel economy.

This year, the event has shifted its focus to Canada’s west coast, starting in Downtown Vancouver and heading to Whistler and Pemberton, B.C. before making a return leg back to Vancouver.

Along the way, the Eco-Run will take in various stops en route — each location designed to show members of the public the latest fuel-efficient and emission-reducing technologies being offered by automakers. Additionally, the stops also aim to demonstrate more fuel-efficient ways in which Canadians can drive their own vehicles and reduce their financial pain at the pump.

Tomorrow (Thursday, May 8), a special Eco-Run show will also take place at Jack Poole Plaza in Downtown Vancouver. Besides being able to view the Eco-Run vehicles, members of the public will get a chance to hone their own eco-driving skills via an on-site simulator. The New Car Dealers Association of B.C. will also present a special showcase of fuel efficient vehicles, allowing members of the public to test-drive them on a special ride and drive program in Downtown Vancouver.

The AJAC Eco-Run can only exist with the support of its partners, including Natural Resources Canada, which has been a key part of Eco-Run since the event’s inception, and the CAA National office, which has also supported the event since Day One. The New Car Dealers Association of B.C. is also providing significant support, along with the West Coast Railway Heritage Park in Squamish. The AJAC Eco-Run committee also wishes to acknowledge the support provided by BC Hydro, Cross Chasm, Stantec and Sun Country Highway.
