In the U.S., the National Automobile Dealers Association has named David Westcott as chairman for 2013. Wescott, who owns David Westcott Buick GMC Suzuki, in Burlington N.C. was elected to the position during a meeting of the NADA’s board of directors in Chicago on October 9.
A new car dealer since 1981, Westcott said that his appointment “is the highest honour I have ever achieved professionally. I am excited about representing the new car and truck dealers in America next year.”
However, given the current state of the economy, despite fairly robust auto sales, Westcott also stated that “all dealers face many challenges today. I’m looking forward to working with all dealers, both large and small, to keep our industry growing and prospering.”
Besides the appointment of Westcott to the role of chairman, marking the sixth time a dealer from North Carolina has held the position, the board also elected Forrest McConnell III as vice chairman.
McConnell, who owns McConnell Acura and Honda in Montgomery, Alabama, also serves as NADA’s board member for new car dealers in the Yellowhammer State, as well as chairman of the association’s industry relations committee.
Both men will be officially sworn into their new positions during the 2013 NADA Expo, which runs from February 8-11 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
