Nissan Leaf named “most efficient vehicle”

Given that its been receiving a lot of media attention since its launch in 2010, the Nissan LEAF, perhaps not surprisingly has been garnering plenty of accolades too, including 2011 World Car of the Year.

Now, Nissan’s all-electric machine has garnered yet another, being labeled as the most efficient car in its class, as part of Natural Resource Canada’s ecoEnergy Vehicle Awards, which are designed to help Canadians minimize fuel costs and emissions output from cars and trucks.

In response to the award, which was announced by the Honorable Joe Oliver, Minister for Natural Resources, Nissan Canada Inc.’s Judy Wheeler declared that “not only is it impossible to beat the all-electric LEAF for fuel efficiency,” the car represents the “first of many electric vehicles we will bring to market.”

According to official Nissan literature, the LEAF has a range of 160 km on a full charge, which is within the needs of 90 percent of Canadian commuters.
