CarDoor launches dealer marketplace

CarDoor has launched a new vehicle-selling platform that allows verified dealers to compete in real time for consumer vehicles, a model the company says will improve inventory sourcing while offering sellers prices based on current market demand.

The Ontario-based company unveiled its MarketCheck platform on Aug. 5, positioning it as a new channel for dealers seeking used vehicle inventory at a time when sourcing quality pre-owned vehicles remains a priority across the industry.

Rather than relying on a single dealer appraisal or an online instant offer, MarketCheck presents a seller’s vehicle to hundreds of participating dealers, who submit competing bids. Once an offer is accepted, CarDoor manages the inspection, paperwork and vehicle transfer.

The platform is integrated with CarDoorX, the company’s dealer marketplace, which gives participating dealerships access to consumer-sourced inventory without buy fees. CarDoor said the service is intended to complement traditional sourcing channels such as trade-ins and wholesale auctions.

The launch is accompanied by new consumer research commissioned by CarDoor and conducted by Angus Reid Forum. The survey of 1,501 Canadian adults found that 56 per cent of people who have sold a vehicle described the experience as negative. Among Generation Z respondents, that figure rose to 77 per cent.

When asked what mattered most when selling a vehicle, 40 per cent of respondents cited receiving a price that reflects market demand, while an equal share said avoiding scams and ensuring personal safety were top priorities. Fairness and transparency ranked next at 36 per cent, followed by fast, guaranteed payment at 29 per cent.

CarDoor currently operates across Ontario and said it plans to expand into additional Canadian markets in 2027.
