Managing dealership inventory and mitigating theft

CADA 360 Security Services is helping dealers strengthen lot control, support theft recovery, and create a new profit opportunity.

Two years after being introduced to the Canadian market, CADA 360 Security Services is gaining momentum as a practical tool dealers are using to strengthen lot control, support stolen vehicle recovery, abide by  and add a profitable ownership solution at the point of sale.

When CADA first launched the program as part of its CADA 360 Risk Management program, the objective was clear: provide dealers with a technology that fits naturally into dealership operations — helping them manage inventory risk without adding complexity.

Today, CADA 360 Security Services is increasingly being integrated into daily workflow as dealers look for more effective ways to track vehicles across their lots, recover stolen inventory, and offer customers an added layer of protection after delivery.

“Dealers don’t need more moving parts,” said Mike Psotka, CADA’s CFO and Director of Member Services. “They need solutions that fit naturally into their operations, reduce exposure, and make commercial sense.”

Why CADA 360 backed RecovR

Psotka said the decision to partner with RecovR was not made lightly. CADA evaluated multiple products in the marketplace in an extensive vetting process before a dealer committee selected RecovR as the offering CADA would stand behind for dealers.

“We interviewed a number of providers,” said Psotka. “What set RecovR apart was that both the technology and the business proposition for dealers were superior.”

That combination remains central to the program’s value today: a dealer-focused solution designed for operational control first, with an optional retail component that supports dealership profitability.

What is CADA 360 Security Services, and how it works

At its core, it is a standalone, wireless vehicle location and recovery device that can be installed discreetly in dealership inventory. Unlike systems that require wiring into the vehicle, it operates independently, with long battery life and flexible placement.

“We focus on theft recovery and geolocalization with a standalone device,” said Patrick Hauert, Senior Vice President of Asset Tracking at Kudelski IoT, RecovR’s parent company. “No wires, nothing plugged into the vehicle. That keeps it simple for the dealer.”

RecovR’s technology communicates through multiple channels, including cellular, GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi, improving its ability to provide location visibility in a wide range of environments.

Modern dealership inventory is rarely confined to one lot. Vehicles move constantly: between rooftops, overflow storage, detailing partners, body shops, service departments, loaner fleets, and test drives.

“Dealerships are controlled chaos,” said Hauert. “Cars are constantly moving. When a buyer is ready, the vehicle needs to be found quickly. Visibility is the operational advantage.”

Psotka says this everyday inventory benefit is often what dealers recognize first. “It’s not only about theft recovery,” he said. “It’s about knowing where your vehicles are, particularly when they’re offsite or moving between locations. That becomes part of running an efficient store.”

Supporting stolen  vehicle recovery

While lot management is a major driver, theft recovery remains central to the offering for both dealership inventory and retail customers.

Hauert says CADA 360 Security Services has helped dealers recover vehicles quickly in real-world scenarios, including cases where multiple vehicles were taken in a single incident.

“When organized crime targets a dealership, they may leave with several high-value vehicles,” he said. “We’ve seen situations where most of those vehicles were recovered within hours,” adding the technology boasts a vehicle recovery rate of more than 90 per cent.

He added that accurate tracking can also support law enforcement investigations, sometimes uncovering broader theft activity beyond a single dealership incident.

CADA 360 Security Services’ model is designed to support dealers operationally while also providing an optional ownership solution for customers.

Dealers may install devices across inventory for lot control. When a vehicle is sold, the customer can choose to activate the service as part of their purchase. If they decline, the device can be removed and redeployed.

“The customer has to see value,” said Hauert. “When it’s presented as a practical ownership tool, it fits.”

CADA 360 notes that similar applications are also being explored as part of its newly launched Canadian Truck Division, reflecting growing interest in asset tracking and recovery solutions in the commercial space, with more details expected in the months ahead.
