Global tire market forecast to hit $260.7B by 2033

The global automotive tire market is expected to grow steadily over the next decade as vehicle ownership increases and electric vehicles reshape tire technology.

A new report from Persistence Market Research forecasts the market will expand from US$175.2 billion in 2026 to US$260.7 billion by 2033, representing an annual growth rate of about 5.8 per cent.

Much of that growth is expected to come from rising global vehicle ownership and steady replacement demand. Tires typically need replacement every three to five years, creating consistent aftermarket demand as the global vehicle population expands.

Passenger vehicles currently account for the largest share of the market at about 58 per cent, reflecting their high production volumes and widespread consumer use.

Electric vehicles are emerging as the fastest-growing segment for tire manufacturers. The report estimates EV-related tire demand will grow at a 10.2 per cent annual rate, as OEMs and suppliers develop specialized tires designed to handle heavier battery packs, higher torque and lower cabin noise.

EV tires often require lower rolling resistance to preserve driving range, stronger load capacity and quieter tread designs to match the near-silent operation of electric powertrains.

Technology is also changing the tire industry itself. Manufacturers are increasingly developing smart tires equipped with sensors that monitor pressure, temperature and wear in real time, helping improve safety and efficiency.

Regionally, Asia Pacific currently leads the global tire market with about 43 per cent market share, supported by strong vehicle production and growing EV adoption. North America is expected to see steady growth as well, supported by strong replacement demand and increasing integration of premium tire technologies.

The findings also highlight how tire technology and replacement demand remain a critical part of the vehicle lifecycle as the industry transitions toward electrification.
