Hyundai Canada and its dealers have donated $1 million to the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation in Montreal, Quebec. It is one of the first presented by newly-formed non-profit Hyundai Hope On Wheels in Canada.
The organization’s aim is to support paediatric cancer patients and survivors. This will be done through research funding and raising awareness to help end childhood cancer. The $1 million donation is part of more than $4 million earmarked for 2025 to support paediatric oncology centres nationwide.
“CHU Sainte-Justine’s renowned oncology program plays a vital role in providing exceptional care and advancing research for children across Quebec,” said Steve Flamand, President and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada, in a statement. “By working together, we can bring hope to families by helping to bridge critical funding gaps.”
In a news release, the OEM said CHU Sainte-Justine is a recognized leader in paediatric oncology in North America. It’s also home to Quebec’s national centre of excellence for paediatric bone marrow and cord blood transplants. The donation from Hyundai Hope On Wheels will help fund research and provide support for patient care and survivorship programs.
The $1 million cheque was provided to representatives of the CHU Sainte-Justine and its foundation at a press conference in March that was hosted by Hyundai Canada.
