SUVs may be contributing to a higher pedestrian fatality rate, according to research published by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The study indicates that pedestrian deaths increased between 2009 and 2018 in the U.S., as SUVs were becoming increasingly popular. “While IIHS acknowledges that its sample size was small (it examined 79 crashes in Michigan) the data draws a wide contrast,” said CNET.
