Honda Canada celebrates 50 years in Canada

Honda Canada representatives and special guests including Toshiaki Mikoshiba, the Chairman and CEO of Honda North America, Inc, joined together in a celebration at the company’s head office on Monday, March 11th to honor their growth and achievements over the past 50 years in Canada.

As the first Japanese automaker to build vehicles in Canada, Honda Canada has sold over four million vehicles since March 11th, 1969, marking an incredible milestone for associates, dealers, partners and customers who have played an integral role in their success.

“Honda planted roots in Canada with a vision of contributing to Canadian society. We are proud of our associates, dealers, partners and suppliers, who have played an important part in our growth and have helped improve the communities where we live and work,” said Dave Gardner, President & CEO, Honda Canada Inc. “We’d also like to thank the millions of Canadians who are loyal members of the Honda family. We look forward to growing with you for the next 50 years.”

Honda Canada has seen a massive trajectory from its humble beginnings as a small community of motorcycle and power equipment dealers to a national network of more than 600 auto, motorcycle and power equipment dealers, numbering close to 19,000 associates.

With its manufacturing roots based in Alliston, Ontario, since 1986, the company has seen the growth of three manufacturing facilities and production of over eight million cars and light trucks.

Giving back to local communities as well as supporting the environment has also been a goal for Honda Canada over the years. They contribute upwards of $2-million to local charities each year through programs and initiatives that make a difference in communities, having benefited more than six million people since 2005.
