Hyundai, dealers raise $30K for Children’s Wish

October 3, 2018

Hyundai Auto Canada and Hyundai dealers across the country worked together to raise $30,000 for this year’s Heroes Challenge, which by extension supports the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada.

During this annual event, formerly known as Exile Island, three qualified Wish Children between the ages of 3-11 are selected. The donations raised are then used to fulfill the wishes of these children who have been diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses.

“Our goal was to raise a minimum of $10,000 and I’m proud to say we’ve tripled that amount!” said Don Romano, President and CEO, Hyundai Auto Canada. “We are thankful to our dealers and our staff for helping to make this year’s fundraising efforts a success. At Hyundai, we recognize the importance of giving back to the communities we serve in and by contributing these funds, we hope to make a positive impact on the lives of some very deserving children.”

During the event, corporate teams are paired with a Wish Child and are challenged to raise a minimum of $10,000 — considered to be the average cost of a wish. For example, a past wish recipient, Christopher, was able to travel to Disney World with his family as a result of the donations. He had been was diagnosed with Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumour (intestinal), but the success of a treatment allowed him to attend the theme park.

The 2018 Heroes Challenge took place in Toronto at Olympic Island.
