On Friday, October 24, the Mann family in Saskatchewan celebrated 100 years as a General Motors dealer. Currently operating two locations, Mann-Northway Auto Source, a Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC store in Prince Albert and Saskatoon Motor Products, a Chevrolet dealership in Saskatoon, the Mann group is recognized today as the oldest operating GM franchise in Canada.
Marking the special occasion was a celebratory lunch and guest speeches from attendees including the mayor of Prince Albert, Greg Dionne. Stephen Rose, Senior Vice-President from AutoCanada Inc., the dealer group the Mann family has partnered with, also took part in the festivities.
Besides marking the centennial of being in business as a GM dealer, the October ceremony was also the date for the official groundbreaking ceremony of a next generation dealership at the Prince Albert location, which is scheduled to open in late 2015.
Robert Mann, Dealer Principal, says “this was a proud day for us and a big accomplishment. We have been big supporters of General Motors and are very excited to have reached this milestone. We look forward to the next 100 years.”
Originally founded in 1914 by Andrew Mann, the Mann Group is a fourth generation family business selling approximately 1,900 vehicles a year between its two locations.
