For a consumer, the process of buying a used car involves a litany of checks and balances and inspections to make sure the vehicle is up to scratch, but that due diligence really starts with the dealer, who wants to know he also isn’t buying a lemon that’s going to turn out to lose money. Dealers in Québec can now stock up their inventories with a little more peace of mine, due to a new partnership between CarProof Vehicle History Reports and Adesa auction services.
CarProof, a London, Ont.–based company, was founded in 2000 and is a leading provider of vehicle history reports in Canada, offering customers a complete work-up on a new car they’re considering purchasing. CarProof reports include accident information, cross-Canada lien search information, registration, import/export information and even a full U.S. history.
Starting this month — Mar. 7 in Montreal and Mar. 22 in Québec City — all Adesa auction will include a CarProof report on all dealer consignment vehicles.
“It is the right thing to do for our customers, to offer them as much information as possible on the vehicles they are looking to buy,” said Simon Robitaille, general manager of Adesa Montreal, in a press release. “This decision to offer a CarProof on our dealer consignment is a significant step toward improving transparency in the marketplace and helping our customers buy vehicles coming from other dealers. As the offering is changing in the coming years from institutional cars and lease returns to dealer trade-ins, it is important for us to evolve with the market and be attentive to our customer’s needs.”
