Google Cloud partnership uses agentic AI to enhance in-car experiences

Dealers in Canada may wish to familiarize themselves with the word “agentic AI,” because it’s already being introduced into the automotive industry. The latest development comes from a recent collaboration between Google Cloud and Qualcomm Technologies.

The companies expanded their relationship to help OEMs improve in-car experiences for consumers through agentic AI. The collaboration brings together Google Cloud’s Automotive AI Agent with Qualcomm Technologies’ Snapdragon Digital Chassis solutions so OEMs can build and deploy multimodal, hybrid edge-to-cloud AI agents.

“AI will fundamentally redefine the carmaker’s ability to provide experiences in and around the car, making it more intuitive, personalized, and helpful for drivers and passengers,” said Shiv Venkataraman, VP of Applied AI at Google Cloud, in a statement.

Venkataraman said the partnership provides a secure, brand-owned platform that allows OEMs to design advanced AI companions. These agents are capable of multi-modal, multi-lingual, and multi-intent capabilities. “This is a clear example of how our joint innovation is accelerating the future of mobility.”

With Google Cloud’s Automotive AI Agent and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon, OEMs will be able to reduce system development times and create branded and interactive experiences.

Nakul Duggal, Group GM, Automotive and Industrial & Embedded IoT, Qualcomm Technologies, said the auto sector is on the verge of a major transformation. This, he said, is being driven by breakthroughs in generative AI and software-defined vehicles.

“Our technology collaboration with Google Cloud marks a significant milestone in unlocking new possibilities for automakers, empowering them to create digitally advanced and personalized experiences for their customers,” said Duggal.
