HGreg relaunches “Buy a car, plant a tree” initiative

HGreg launched its “Buy a car, plant a tree” campaign in partnership with Tree Canada, a national non-profit organization, from April 22 (Earth Day) to May 22 to help preserve the environment.

This is the ninth year HGreg has launched its campaign. The company said it will plant a tree for every car sold throughout its network, for one month. Last year 2,072 trees were planted as part of the initiative, bringing the total number of trees planted in Quebec to over 8,500 since the program began.

HGreg said Larch trees were planted in Pointe-au-Père, in the Rimouski region. They were selected for the protected peat bogs, with the goal of preserving carbon-rich soils and preventing the degradation of a fragile ecosystem.

“This initiative has become a tradition at HGreg as well as a reminder that every action counts when it comes to preserving our planet,” stated Harry Kasparian, Vice-President of Marketing at HGreg, in a statement. “As a company, we want to show that economic growth can go hand in hand with environmental responsibility.”

As part of this year’s initiative, the company decided to increase its impact by giving trees directly to those customers who would like to plant one at home.
