Canadian automotive executive Steve Flamand was recently appointed president and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada, overseeing both the Hyundai and Genesis brands in Canada after Don Romano, who previously held the position for a decade, was promoted, and will relocate to Australia.
Flamand joined the company in February 2018 and held progressive leadership positions, including as executive director of sales and digital strategy. In his new role he will report to Randy Parker, CEO of Hyundai and Genesis Motor North America. And Romano will become president and CEO of Hyundai Australia and advisor for the Hyundai Asia Pacific Region.
“Don leaves behind big shoes to fill, but as someone who has been admiring Hyundai and Genesis long before I joined the company, it’s truly an honour to take on this new role,” said Flamand in a statement. “I look forward to working alongside the team and our dealers to continue the work of establishing an industry-leading ownership experience for our customers and reinforcing the brands’ leadership in technology and future mobility.”
Taking the reins, Flamand will oversee daily operations for both Hyundai and Genesis in Canada, along with its network of 226 Hyundai auto dealers and 31 Genesis distributors nationwide. He is expected to do so with a continued focus on enhancing the customer experience through digitization across the entire business, and to guide the strategic vision for the brands.
